Julia Crookston, the owner of Bona Dea Preserves of Santa Barbara, is a career culinarian with over 30 years of production & development experience. An alumnus of Alice Water’s Chez Panisse and Jeremiah Tower’s Stars, she returned to Southern California as an Executive Chef and then General Manager for Bon Appetit Mgt Co, supervising food service for private colleges and major motion picture studios. Recruited to be an instructor for a professional culinary program, she helped develop an original curriculum and was the Serv Safe certificate instructor. For the last 15 years, Julia has been employed in private service, developing small businesses and as instructor and consultant. She is a lifelong promoter & practitioner of hand made high quality foods and is deeply involved with local food production systems.
